Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1390983 Composed by Roberto Votta. A Cappella,Christian,Latin,Religious,Sacred. 9 pages. Roberto Votta #974508. Published by Roberto Votta (A0.1390983). In Nomine Patris, composed for a cappella choir, is a piece written in 2007 in homage to the composer's parents. A work that delves deeply into the tradition of religious choral singing. With texts in Latin, including the Pater Noster and the Ave Maria, the music captivates hearts with its reverence and spirituality. The piece premiered in 2007, in São Paulo, under the baton of the composer himself. In Nomine Patris stands out for its modal approach and free counterpoint techniques, captivating not only the ears, but also the soul. This composition is an invitation to a sonic journey that transcends time and connects the faithful through music. Instrumental Solo,Organ - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1305173 Composed by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Historic,Instructional. Individual part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #894609. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1305173). I performed the 2005 world premiere of Daniel Pinkham's St. Luke Organ Book, and composed/performed this piece as a prelude. In Nomine (aka the Little Time Machine) is based on the traditional tune In Nomine as a cantus prius factus. The little time machine moves through 600 years of musical style in 3 minutes. It begins as a 12th Century treatment, and morphs - period by historical period - all the way to the 20th Century. The premiere occurred at the Historic St. Luke's Organ Benefit Concert in 2005.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1292197 Composed by John Bull. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 13 pages. Jmsgu3 #882787. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1292197). John Bull was an English composer, organist, virginalist, and organ builder who lived from 1562/63 to 1628. He was educated as a chorister of the Chapel Royal in London and later became a Doctor of Music at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Bull was one of the most famous composers of keyboard music of the early 17th century, and most of his compositions were written for the virginal, a keyboard instrument popular in the Renaissance period. He was known for his outstanding technical ability and keyboard virtuosity, and his music is distinguished by unfailing resourcefulness in devising new musical ideas. Bull's reputation rests on his extensive compositions for virginals and organ, some 150 extant pieces published in Musica Britannica. He was also one of the contributors to Parthenia, a collection of keyboard music published in 1611. Bull wrote an anthem, God the Father, God the Son, for the 1613 wedding of the princess and the Elector Palatine, in addition to his keyboard compositions, verse anthems, canons, and other works. Bull's music ranked among the foremost composers along with Byrd, Gibbons, and Tomkins.John Bull had several contemporaries who were also prominent composers during the Renaissance period. Some of these composers include:William Byrd: Byrd was an English composer and one of the most influential figures in English Renaissance music. He was a contemporary of John Bull and is considered one of the greatest composers of his time. Byrd's compositions include sacred choral music, keyboard works, and consort music.Orlando Gibbons: Gibbons was an English composer and organist who lived during the same period as John Bull. He was known for his sacred choral music, particularly his anthems and verse anthems. Gibbons' compositions are characterized by their expressive harmonies and intricate counterpoint.Thomas Tomkins: Tomkins was another English composer who was active during the same time as John Bull. He was known for his sacred choral music, including anthems and services. Tomkins' compositions are notable for their rich harmonies and expressive melodies.Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck: Sweelinck was a Dutch composer and organist who was highly regarded during the Renaissance period. He was known for his keyboard music, particularly his variations and fantasias. Sweelinck's compositions had a significant influence on Bull and other composers of the time. These composers, along with John Bull, were influential figures in the development of Renaissance music and significantly contributed to the repertoire of keyboard and choral music during that era.

Josquin des Prez (c.1450-1521) was a composer of the Renaissance period, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. His compositions set the standard for polyphonic music and are considered a high point in the history of music. He wrote a wide range of works, including masses, motets, and chansons, and was the first composer to set popular secular tunes as mass movements. His influence can be seen in the works of many later composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, and George Frideric Handel.Josquin des Prez was a prolific composer of chamber music and duets during the Renaissance period. He wrote several types of chamber music and duets, including madrigals, chansons, and motets. His compositions are characterized by their intricate counterpoint, as well as their harmonic richness and emotional expressiveness. His works often featured two voices in harmony, and he was known to use imitation and complex canonic techniques to create interesting musical textures. Josquin's chamber music and duets are renowned for their complexity and beauty, and they remain some of the most influential and admired works from the Renaissance period.Josquin Desprez is widely regarded as one of the most influential composers of the Renaissance period. His innovative use of counterpoint and canon helped to revolutionize the musical landscape of the time. Counterpoint is a technique of combining two or more independent melodies in a way that creates harmony and a cohesive musical texture. Josquin was a master of this technique, often combining multiple voices in complex contrapuntal textures. His use of canon, or round, was also highly influential. Canon involves two or more voices repeating the same melody in different registers and often with different rhythms. Josquin wrote canons in various styles and forms, including the popular “circular canon” and the more complex “strict canon.” He was also an early adopter of the “inverted canon” form, in which the same melody is repeated but in an inverted form. Josquin’s use of counterpoint and canon had a lasting impact on the development of Western music and helped to establish the foundation for many of the musical forms and techniques still used today.Contents: I.
